There is little you can do to prevent baby acne from occurring, as there is no known cause for its existence. There is a theory that it has to do with hormone levels during pregnancy, but this has not yet been tested or evaluated fully. Although this condition does not happen to the majority of newborns, it is perfectly normal and will not harm the baby in any immediate or lasting way.*
Perhaps, the best treatment for baby acne is time. Most of the time, acne formations clear within several weeks or perhaps a few months. If you are legitimately concerned for your baby’s well-being, seek the aid of a pediatrician.
